My goal for Grow Fiji is to start a small farm then spread throughout the island. I want to diversify produce available, lower the cost of healthy foods, provide jobs, decrease imports and increase capital in Fiji's economy.

The Island of Fiji is close to Australia and New Zealand. The territories of Victoria, New South Wales, QueensLand and Auckland have a combined population of 18 million people. These are potential markets for Grow Fiji to tap into.

Consisting of 300 hundred islands, the farm location will be on Viti Levu in the city of Suva. The population of Suva is 330,000 people and 800,000 for the total on the island. There are two main airports, Nadi International and the other in Nausori. Marked in red is the Queens and Kings highway. The stretch of highway from Nadi to Suva is called the Coral Coast where the bulk of hotels are located.

Suva is located on the eastern division of Viti Levu. The neighboring cities include Nasinu, Nausori and Suva. My Grandmother's house (GMH) is twenty minutes away from the farm.  The Queens Highway runs next to the farm. There are fourteen supermarkets along the highway to the farm site not including off streets. I have visited all of these super markets and they lack  variety, low prices and a consistent supply of produce. The village I belong to is Lominakoro and that is where my tribal land is located.

Nasinu is a growing city with three super markets and three schools within five minutes from the farm. There are a couple of new deveolpment projects which should be complete in a couple of years.

The location of the farm is in Nasinu at Nakasi Naulu village. The house on the left will be rented out to house the workers. Esira Bainvalu lives in the house on the right with his wife and three kids.

The road into Nakasi Naulu village. Members of the village own the land.

Drive way was put in by the digger.

Drains to help keep the location from getting too saturated from water coming down the hill. They stay filled with water when rains come two to three times a week.

Large pond can be used for irrigation. The trees in the grassy area are going to be cut to expand the farm area.

The trees on the right will be cut to expand into that side. There is a small pond on the bottom right of the picture.

A digger will be hired to clear the stumps.

The area has been left alone for decades. Soils look dark and moist.
