Letter from the Founder

Dear Friends,

I hope this letter finds you well and filled with the same warmth and nostalgia for Fiji that fills my heart. As someone who grew up on the stunning islands of Fiji and later ventured to the United States, my journey has been one of rediscovery and a deepening appreciation for my roots.

Returning to Fiji after twenty-five years abroad, I was struck by the unchanged beauty of the land, the enduring warmth of its people, and the vast potential that lies untapped within its borders. It became clear to me that while much remains the same, Fiji's potential for growth and prosperity is remarkably underutilized.

Born and raised in Suva, Fiji's capital, I had the privilege of experiencing the rich culture and natural wonders that define our homeland. Yet, it was upon my return that I truly grasped the extent of the opportunities awaiting Fiji's embrace.

One of the most glaring observations was the slow progress in harnessing Fiji's agricultural potential. Despite the abundance of fertile land, consistent rainfall, and favorable climate, much of it remains uncultivated. As a result, Fiji continues to rely heavily on imports for essential food items, incurring significant costs and missing out on the opportunity to strengthen its own economy.

Motivated by a desire to give back to my homeland and inspired by the vision of a self-sustaining Fiji, I embarked on a mission to address these challenges head-on. Thus, the Grow Fiji Foundation was born, with a steadfast commitment to empowering local communities and revitalizing Fiji's agricultural landscape.

Joined by esteemed board members Derek Swafford, Ryan Wheeler, and Griff Williamson, we set out to establish a five-acre farm in the heart of Fiji. Our aim is not only to cultivate fresh produce but also to sow the seeds of empowerment and sustainability within our communities.

Through our foundation, we envision a future where every Fijian has access to nutritious, locally grown food, and where farming is not just a livelihood but a source of pride and prosperity. To achieve this, we are dedicated to providing hands-on education and support to aspiring farmers, as well as donating a portion of our harvest to those in need.

With your support and the dedication of our team, I am confident that we can turn this vision into a reality. Together, let us sow the seeds of change and cultivate a brighter future for Fiji.

Vinaka vakalevu (thank you) for your unwavering support.

Warm regards,

George Keiaho Founder, Grow Fiji Foundation
